(1) Honesty. While on contract you will rely on your recruiter to support you. He or she is your lifeline and you want to know you can trust them.

(2) Follow through. Your success in landing positions is directly related to your recruiter doing what he says he’s going to do. If that means calling you at a pre-determined time or returning a missed call in a timely manner be sure you have that in your recruiter.

(3) Organizational skills. A recruiter has many responsibilities (i.e., managing documentation process for your upcoming assignment, facilitating housing setup, processing your pay, managing issues/traveler concerns etc.) and it’s virtually impossible to manage if he or she isn’t organized.

(4) Communication skills. Your recruiter should clearly articulate important information about the industry, company policy and procedures, hospital and job details. They should also be good listeners.

(5) Experience. The more your recruiter knows about the industry the more information you will have. Knowledge is power and the most-experienced recruiters can guide you to success.
